This cultural adventure includes reindeer sledding, trying lasso-throwing and storytelling about the Sami culture and history. People of all ages can participate on this soft adventure, which is perfect for families.

The reindeer await your arrival at Camp Tamok. You will be transported to our camp by bus, and will receive comfortable outdoor clothing and boots to keep warm during your stay. A Sami guide will meet and greet you upon arrival, and bring you to the reindeer herd, which will be eager to pull your sleigh.

You will be driving in pairs with one reindeer pulling each sleigh. All you need to do is make yourself comfortable, sit back and enjoy the magical scenery. Daytime trips give you an amazing view of the wild mountains in the area, and evening trips in the period November – March will give you a good opportunity to experience the Northern Lights. After the sledding, you will head back to a warm and cosy lavvo (Sami tent) where there will be a bonfire to keep you warm – a perfect setting to learn more about the Sami people and their fascinating culture.

You´ll also try lasso-throwing, the method by which the Sami people still catch their reindeer when they are rounded up for marking. You will also get to feed the reindeer. How awesome is that? Before heading back to Tromso, you´ll get a lovely hot meal in our dining lavvu.

Pick-up by bus or minibus outside the Scandic Ishavshotel by the harbour in downtown Tromso. The transfer time is 75 minutes to Camp Tamok: the start and end point of your excursion.
