Our chefs are always on the hunt for new methods of serving classic home cooking. For example, have you tried our amazing soft ice-cream with lingonberry jam?
We make 95% of all the food ourselves and source as much as possible of our ingredients from regional local suppliers. For instance, our lamb comes from Hamnvåg Lam in Malangen, feta cheese from Bomstad Gård in Nordkjosbotn, new potatoes and boiled dried cod from Kåre Frydenlund in Storfjord and reindeer meat from Kauokeino, just to mention a few. The cafe also offers a tempting selection of spices, syrups, cheeses and more, all from regional producers.
The cafe opened its doors for the first time on 4th July 1948, after Gudrun “Guri” Lydersen had taken over the property. Today the Vollen Guesthouse is run by the third generation of the Lydersen family with the same welcoming style and spirit of “Guri”. In 2018 we celebrate and mark the 70 years since “Guri” first opened the guesthouse.
Since we produce traditional home-made food, we change the menu seasonally. Therefore you will always find something new and tempting on a regular basis.
Take a trip to our cafe for a real home cooking experience, for when you want to try something extra special.
